Well, I guess you wouldn't really call this a tip. I would call it a something I do in the kitchen that isn't good but sometimes helps. Anyways, here it is:
Improvise!
If you ran out of cocoa grab a handful of mini chocolate chips to add to your cookies, cakes, and brownies. Or if you don't want the extra step of rolling cookies in sugar, simply coat your hands with powdered sugar when you make up the balls.
